IKEA Drawer Inserts

What do you do with left over IKEA packaging?

Everyone has seen all the #ikeahack's for furniture - but how many of us think about the packaging the furniture comes in?

All that cardboard which goes straight into the recycling bin.
But what if there was another way?

I recently bought a new wardrobe and as the pile of cardboard was building up, my Packaging Designer mind started spinning, with all the possibilities of what I could create with all that material.

But after dismissing the crazy ideas like a cardboard rocket or some other crazy cat house construction. I settled on something more practical... Drawer inserts!

Grabbing my journal and a pen, I quickly came up with some simple slot together designs that fitted perfectly into the drawers in my new wardrobe.

They work great - keeps everything neat, tidy and organised.
Plus, it costs nothing! Well nothing extra.

So next time you've got a pile of IKEA cardboard left over from your home improvements.
Think to yourself: "What can I turn this into?"

You maybe surprised with the results...

Just because it's packaging doesn't mean it's useless after you unpack and build your furniture. You may even be able to improve it, to better suit your needs!
