Why Clients Micromanage

Inspired by an Instagram post created by @thechrisdo of @thefuturishere.

Do you love being micromanaged?

Of course, you don't - no one does!

Whether it's back seat driving, second guessing your decisions or just a constant looming presence as you try to work, it's not a happy working environment.

If you don't already follow Chris, and you're in the creative industry. Stop what you're doing now and go over to his feed - it's mana from the design gods!

As Chris says in his original post:
"...if this keeps happening, it’s a sign that you are part of the problem."

So I hope this handy chart of reasons clients micromanage and how to overcome those reasons helps you escape the curse of being micromanaged.

But as with solving all problems, we must first diagnose the problem before prescribing a solution. So instead of complaining and pointing the finger at other people, it maybe time to look at your own approach to working.

You can't control what others do, but you can control your reactions and the systems and processes you can put in place to reduce or eliminate them completely.

Do you have any tips for dealing with micromanagement?
