Is your feedback effective?
Giving feedback is part of daily life for most professions, it can be daunting, but it's essential to achieve success.
But many of us loathe it - both giving and receiving it. I feel this is mainly because most of us have experience bad feedback, and picked up those traits during our careers.
The feedback loop fascinates me, I've created many nudenotes and even written a blog all about it which you can read here.
Breaking bad traits takes time and practice, and I know I'm definitely guilty of giving poor feedback from time to time - but I know it's getting better and better each time.
Having their four components in my back pocket ready for next time is another good reminder.
So next time you're giving feedback remember to: be specific, be prompt, be mindful and be inclusive.
